MAGGIE RIGBY and SMALL TOWN ROMANCE in The House

MAGGIE RIGBY is a singer songwriter from Castlemaine, Central Victoria. Maggie is most known for her work with internationally renowned, iconic Melbourne folk band, The Maes. Her debut solo EP, Best Love in the Universe, showcases Maggie's world-class songwriting, subtle instrumentation and spine-tingling vocals. In the first year of her solo project, Maggie has appeared at Woodford Folk Festival, Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland, UK and opened for Kate Ceberano and Rachel Sermanni.

We are privileged to have this very special opportunity to immerse ourselves in Maggie's music in such an intimate setting.

SMALL TOWN ROMANCE is duo and life partners, Flora Smith and Jim Arneman. With a knack for a story, an uncanny ear for melody and an innate poeticism, Small Town Romance blend folk, country and roots influences to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Small Town Romance know their way around a classic country song but like make no apologies for speaking in an Australian voice.

With two CMAA golden guitar nominations, a Music Victoria nomination and a slew of high-profile festivals and supports already under their belt, STR are proudly carrying on the incredible musical legacy of Jim’s mother Anne Kirkpatrick and grandparents Slim Dusty and Joy McKean.

Home Fires is the long awaited second record from Small Town Romance. A rich and ambitious collection of songs bursting with life and finely attuned insights. At times confessional, and at others observational, packed with closely observed musical portraits channeling the likes of Guy Clark and Don Walker. It’s twang forward but knows how to swing and when to take it down a notch. What remains constant throughout the record is the sheer strength of the writing. Jim Arneman and Flora Smith are two songwriters who are fiercely committed to crafting exceptional songs and on Home Fires, they are truly coming into their own.
